Brilliant. I’m still scratching my head over those 2. (Dooce and Blurb) How are they going to repair all of the damage?
Now Blurb is bullying women with his tweets. Seems like no one can have an opinion but THEM and if you dare have one, then you will be spanked and put in a corner.
I think we are all getting a front row seat to a self destructing couple. The “hate” is silly and now they put a spotlight on it and are actually making comments, which I find so snarky and bizarre.
Why not rise above? Why not keep blogging and ignore people who might not like you? Instead, they are encouraging hate comments and have stooped to a level that shows the transparency of two people who at one time, were king and queen of blogging.
Their #1 problem now is that they opened a can of worms without thinking it all the way through. Also, dooce said the money made from “hate” will now go to charity. However that’s not what was originally stated. And it appears someone else came up with the idea, much like the Maytag free washer debacle.
My observation is that the thought process behind the “brand” has been clouded, they over- react, and quite frankly have become cyber bullies. It’s really sad to watch.
The big problem, and it will be interesting to see, is the incredible legal issues surrounding this. Possibly putting themselves, their home and business at a great risk.All over making money over “hate”. ?
The negative press will put a spotlight on this and quite possibly be the start of the end. Or hopefully a major change in their thought process and help them get back to good writing, civility, appreciation, better attitudes and earn back their credibility.
Once the media gets wind of it, the negative press attention just may overwhelm them (or make them put a “monetizing the press” area)
It’s sad and I think they are now in over their heads.

Gotta agree with Editor on this one…it’s been slowly coming for a while now. Perhaps this is just Heather’s new version of PPD? Seriously, she isn’t acting in her typical manner, ie the “talking” on Twitter so much etc. I do think they’ve gotten into a mess that hopefully they’ll let dissipate and go away by not antagonizing it further. I don’t want them to suffer in any way…I like Dooce…and Blurb, when they don’t act like this. But from personal experience with at least Jon…and well now that I think of it Heather too…they can be really judgemental and mean to people they don’t know. Which I think is just the pitfall of social network/internet communication etc. In real life they might be perfectly nice people…I hope they are. On here, they come across and very judgemental and unyielding at times…more so lately unfortunately. Maybe it’s just newborn stress induced insanity for them both!

What strikes me as interesting in this whole Monetizing the Hate/Love thing is that the comments/emails published on Monetizing the Hate make me laugh and sound insane and pathetic, but when I read the stuff on here, I don’t laugh, or think that the people writing it are angry, judgemental assholes…I can’t help but agree with them in their defense of Heather and they condemnation of you “Renegade Moms.”
This is so low, so junior high, so sad. Why don’t you understand how small this makes you look? Do you not have a little voice in the back of your head saying “well, this is a *little* cruel, maybe…”??? I couldn’t live with myself, or sleep through the night, if I knew I had made a website or posted something publicly that tore apart someone else. Tell me, how do you do it?

Wow! You guys have never had an original idea in your lives, have you? For people who claim to hate Dooce, you sure seem hellbent on imitating her (minus the great web design and any shred of class). I mean, seriously. You can’t even get the comments up and running properly. Amateurs, much?
The only thing you achieve here is proving that Renegade Moms are nothing more than pathetic, envious and nasty.
I pity your poor children. I cannot imagine what it must be like to have such mediocre role models!

WOW…it looks like Heather B. has a freakin’ internet mafia going on. I hope you get more supportive comments coming your way because you ladies are absolutely amazing. Amazing because you speak your mind (which you have every right to do because of that free speech thing) and you don’t back down even when the mafia minions hammer down on you. Way to stick to your guns!
